A special ISASA school birthday

| September 5, 2012 | 0 Comments

On 23 June 2012, on the occasion of the annual Founder’s Day, Penryn College and Penreach in Nelspruit, Mpumalanga, celebrated their 21st birthday. About 1 600 people attended the ceremony held on the main rugby field. The history of Penryn and Penreach was retold by various groups representing all stakeholders, from Grade 5 through to the chairman of the council, Tim de Wet, and one of the original founders of the institution (and now CEO of Penreach), David Wylde. The Fundinjobo High School choir sang in celebration, learners and principals from Penreach partner schools offered relevant readings to mark the occasion, and the assembly sang ‘Happy Birthday’ to the college while hundreds of red, white and blue balloons were released.

To commemorate the work of the early founders of Penryn, the existing sport fields were renamed in their honour. The service was followed by hockey games in which students competed against alumni, which was the perfect way to end a successful and meaningful day.
