Jubilee joy for Treverton Schools

Treverton Schools in KwaZulu-Natal celebrates its jubilee this year. The school opened in January 1964 and since then, the Treverton mission has been: ‘To provide a balanced all-round quality education based on a strong Christian foundation.’

Jubilee celebrations included a sports festival, a drama production, a Founder’s Day celebration and an Old Trevertonian function in the Mooi River Town Hall.

Another special highlight was the Treverton Jubilee Adventure Journey. This trip took place through the KwaZulu-Natal Midlands, with the involvement of all pupils from Grade 000 to post-matric, along with all the staff, on 16 May 2014 — the day before Founders Day.

The total distance travelled on this journey was about 300 km, using only non-motorised transport — including horseback riding, mountain biking, sailing, paddling, swimming, running, abseiling, rock climbing, hiking and walking. Different age groups were assigned different legs of the route, which were age-appropriate and achievable for them.
