The Sifunda Kunye Educational Project is pleased to announce a new partnership with Hendrik Kanise Combined School in Alicedale, in the Eastern Cape.

St Andrew’s College in Grahamstown is the information technology (IT) support partner for all the Sifunda Kunye projects. St Andrew’s has assisted Sifunda Kunye with all of the IT installation and maintenance in the laboratories at its five schools. A new laboratory has just been built at Hendrik Kanise Combined School.

On 10 May 2016, all stakeholders celebrated the grand opening of the new state-of-the-art computer and media laboratory that represents an initial investment of over R700 000 raised by Sifunda Kunye. The facility is equipped with 50 laptop computers and student workstations, a server, two projectors, internet access, maths and English software, and a small library.

A full-time facilitator has also been employed to support pupils in their use of the software, to teach computer literacy courses, and to ensure the facility runs effectively.

Sifunda Kunye Educational Project is a non-profit public benefit organisation that relies on donations to support its technology, literacy and basic needs programmes at its six partner schools (see: www.sifundakunye.org).
