The 20th St John’s College Basketball Tournament, brought to you by Standard Bank.
Four days – 64 teams – four provinces – 764 players – 176 games
St John’s College is thrilled to present the 20th St John’s Basketball Tournament, brought to you by Standard Bank, from February 20 to 23, 2025 – the biggest boys’ school basketball tournament in Southern Africa.
This year’s tournament features local schools and inter-provincial teams from the Eastern Cape, Free State, Gauteng, and KwaZulu-Natal, as well as teams from neighbouring Zimbabwe.
The U19 and U15 categories will follow a round-robin format, with the top teams advancing to the knockout stages, while the U13 divisions will compete in a festival format.
This four-day event promises fun for the whole family, with plenty to see and do. Enjoy a variety of food vendors, a bar area, a VIP Lounge for courtside comfort, and Chill Out Lounges in the Basketball Village to relax between games.
Tickets are priced at R50 and can be purchased through Webtickets or at the gate. For a premium courtside experience, limited VIP tickets are available for R200 per day. Please note that for your safety, St John’s College is a cashless environment. Only debit and credit cards will be accepted.
Games will be live-streamed from the courts, thanks to our media partner, SuperSport Schools. If you can’t join us in person, be sure to download the SuperSport Schools app to watch the games from anywhere.
“It’s a privilege to bring together such talented teams for the St John’s College Basketball Tournament,” said Mr Stuart West,
Executive Headmaster of St John’s College. “This event transcends competition. It embodies the spirit of sportsmanship, camaraderie, and our collective love for basketball.”
“Engaging on the courts provides numerous lessons in character — from determination and resilience to navigating success or setback with grace,” continued Mr West. “We encourage all players to embrace good sportsmanship, foster healthy competition, and uphold fairness throughout the tournament as we celebrate the friendships formed during this event.”
This tournament would not be possible without the generous support of our partners. Thank you to our headline sponsor, Standard Bank, and to SuperSport Schools, our media partner, who ensure that families and supporters can follow the action from anywhere in the world. We also extend our gratitude to AVIS for their continued support and to PPS for sponsoring our development teams from Manguang.
